  • The question about brakes. Magura do brakes for s-Pedalecs. They have an internal switch for the motor and brake light. The Magura brakes are either MT4E or MT5E.

  • Ebike brakes, the best is Magura MT5e. It has 4 finger alu levers, solid as a rock, and a knob at the end of the levers to make them legal to 45kph.

  • Derailleurs suck, internal gears are the future. Just need to sort out the efficiency enough all the peddlars

  • Timestamp

    0:00 Steve's back.
0:22 IGH, internally geared hub on ebike.
1:55 looking for info on the 2020 kenevo. Should I be holding out for it.
2:29 What's the best tyre width size for ebike's. 2.6 or 2.8 or should I say what's the quickest way to get Steve overly excited.
4:42 buying my first ebike and my local suppliers a trek dealer. I've got a top spec trek non ebike should I buy a lower spec ebike and swap the parts over?
Will the x01 shifter work with a bosch motor?
6:34 oval chain ring on an ebike, what would it be like?
7:43 ebike specific brakes, any recommendations?
8:30 comutting in the week, trails on the weekend.
Should I swap tyres over or maybe get some spare wheels?
9:26 every one has ebike's except yeti and santa cruz why don't they have emtbs yet?
10:30 I have a nice orange. Do you think any oems will start selling frame packages so I can swap my parts over from non ebike frame to an ebike frame?
Or is it just a money grab!
11:30 time for Steve to go back on the shelf till next week.

  • To answer the question on the brakes you can get whatever brakes you like, sram guide RE are good you can retro fit the brake motor cut off switches to any hydraulic brakes system.

  • Leighton save your money and just buy a better bike and ride your trail tyres in the week.
You won't be doing more than 15.5 mph anyway so if you have the range in the battery when riding trail tyres in the week just don't worry about it.
Maybe just find trails on your commute.

  • Can 2.6 tyres fit on 40 mm int rims. I have 2.8 f and r at the moment but would like to try something slimmer

  • Losing weight on ebikes is good, but at what point do you lose the advantage of the extra weight?
Maybe lighter motors and more battery mounted low down.

  • I cba to watch this video, but five gears in the motor and five at the hub with computer controlled shifting would be a great maintenance free ten speed solution

  • Thank you EMBN for taking my question. Yes I was referring to a cutoff sensor (I’m new to the mid drive system)(and EMTB’s) but I’m learning thanks to this show. So I guess most manufacturers don’t use electric cutoff sensors and after having it explained I understand now that on a mid drive it wouldn’t really serve a purpose. And yes I’m building this bike completely from the ground up and learning the hard way. In the end I estimate that I may only have saved 1,000 US dollars and the bike may not perform as well as a quality off the shelf unit. I will try and let you know.

  • You should check out Kidnernay gear hub. Specially made for emtb. I've seen them on the Kenevo Expert 😉

  • I’m selling a Moustache Samedi 27 Race 9 Carbon in mint condition and hardly used. Paid £6399 and selling for £5000 or near offer. Can be found on Gumtree. ?

  • @speedracer 650 – check Magura MT5e 4-piston brakes with braking sensor for e-bikes. They can stop a train 😀

  • I was really hoping he was going to answer the question on the 2020 Kenevo ? , because I’m waiting on the 2020 Levo No way am I getting the 2019 model even with the price drop

  • First. Call me a rebel, I ran a 2.6 rear and 2.8 front for a while, back to 2.8 front and back.
